A new dating app has hit the scene with something so outrageous that it might just work in what feels like a Mission Impossible. Thursday, founded by Matt McNeill Love and George Rawlings, has received $3.5 million in seed investment after launching in May.
Thursday has a singular mission if you choose to accept. It's to compress swiping, matching, and conversations into a few hours one day per week, Thursday, of course. What happens if you fail to act? Your matches and conversations disappear at midnight. *Mic Drop*
In an attempt to curb swipe fatigue, Thursday limits users to just ten matches per day and encourages use each Thursday only if they are available to go on a date that evening. Users complete a standard profile, upload photos, and answer a few questions. They also can upload "Stories" that disappear after 24 hours.
By creating scarcity, Thursday is bringing some fun back into dating! However, Thursday is only available for singles in London and New York.
“This is the first version of Thursday, and it’s definitely not perfect, so in the short term, we are going to use this time to tighten up the app, introduce some new features and continue to develop our matching algorithm to make it the most efficient and intuitive matching system on the market,” said co-founder Matt McNeill Love. “We’re also going to be introducing a not been done before, revolutionary feature, which will really assist with matches resulting in dates.”
Will you be giving Thursday a try when it comes to your market?
